Our faith

What we believe

We believe the Bible is the Word of God and that the gospel of Jesus Christ is at the center of everything. This is a summary of our articles of faith.

  1. 01

    The Scriptures

The Bible is the Word of God, written by divinely inspired men. It is entirely true and trustworthy, without any mixture of error, and it is the supreme standard for our faith and conduct. All Scripture testifies to Christ, the center of God's revelation.

    ScripturePsalm 19:7-10Matthew 5:17-18John 17:172 Timothy 3:15-172 Peter 1:19-21

  2. 02

    God

There is one and only one living and true God: Creator, Redeemer, Preserver and Ruler of the universe, infinite in holiness and in all His perfections. This eternal God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, without division of nature, essence or being.

    ScriptureDeuteronomy 6:4Matthew 28:19John 4:241 Corinthians 8:6Ephesians 4:6

  3. 03

    Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary; He lived without sin and, in His death on the cross, took our place to redeem us. He rose bodily, ascended to heaven and is now the one Mediator between God and man. He will return in power and glory.

    ScriptureIsaiah 53:1-12John 1:1-181 Corinthians 15:1-8Philippians 2:5-111 Timothy 2:5-6

  4. 04

    The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is fully God. He inspired the Scriptures, convicts us of sin, draws us to Christ and gives us new life. He unites every believer to the body of Christ, forms His character in us, gives us gifts to serve and seals us until the day of redemption.

    ScriptureJohn 14:16-17, 26John 16:7-14Romans 8:9-111 Corinthians 12:3-11, 13Ephesians 1:13-14

  5. 05

    Humanity

God created man and woman in His image as the crowning work of His creation. Through disobedience humanity fell into sin and is under condemnation; only the grace of God can restore us to fellowship with Him. Every person, of every race, has full dignity and deserves respect and love.

    ScriptureGenesis 1:26-30Psalm 51:5Romans 3:10-18, 23Romans 5:12Ephesians 2:1-22

  6. 06

    Salvation

Salvation is a gift of God's grace, freely offered to all who repent and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained our redemption. It includes regeneration, justification, sanctification and glorification. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Christ.

    ScriptureJohn 3:3-21Acts 4:12Romans 10:9-10Ephesians 2:8-22Titus 2:11-14

  7. 07

    God's purpose of grace

In His sovereign goodness, God chooses, regenerates, justifies, sanctifies and glorifies sinners. This truth excludes all boasting and leads us to humility. Those whom God has accepted in Christ and sanctified by His Spirit will be kept by His power and persevere to the end.

    ScriptureJohn 10:27-29Romans 8:28-39Ephesians 1:4-231 Peter 1:2-5

  8. 08

    The church

The local church is a congregation of baptized believers, joined by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel under the lordship of Christ, seeking to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Its biblical officers are pastors and deacons (men and women); the office of pastor belongs to men qualified by Scripture. The Church is also the body of Christ, made up of the redeemed from every tribe, tongue, people and nation.

    ScriptureMatthew 16:15-19Acts 2:41-42, 47Ephesians 1:22-231 Timothy 3:1-151 Peter 5:1-4

  9. 09

    Baptism and the Lord's Supper

Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit: an act of obedience that shows their union with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act in which the church, with the bread and the fruit of the vine, remembers the Redeemer's death and looks forward to His return.

    ScriptureMatthew 28:19-20Acts 2:41-42Romans 6:3-51 Corinthians 11:23-29

  10. 10

    The Lord's Day

The first day of the week is the Lord's Day. It commemorates the resurrection of Christ, and we set it apart for worship and spiritual devotion, both public and private.

    ScriptureMatthew 28:1John 20:1, 19-28Acts 20:7Revelation 1:10

  11. 11

    The Kingdom and last things

God reigns over the whole universe and, in a special way, over those who receive Him as King. We pray and work for His will to be done on earth. Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory; the dead will be raised and Christ will judge all people in righteousness. The unrighteous will go to eternal punishment, and the righteous will live forever with the Lord.

    ScriptureLuke 17:20-21Matthew 25:31-46John 14:1-31 Thessalonians 4:14-18Revelation 21-22

  12. 12

    Evangelism and missions

It is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ and every church to make disciples of all nations. We seek to win others to Christ through our words and through lives that back up the gospel.

    ScriptureMatthew 28:18-20John 20:21Acts 1:8Romans 10:13-15
